Color Study Class at the Academy of Realist Art

Full Color Study

Color Study for the Figure

Thursdays, January 15th to March 12th (9 classes)
5:00pm - 8:00pm
Instructor: Emmy De Musis
Cost: $410
The color study is a preliminary sketch that determines specific color mixtures and establishes, in the most simplified manner, the value range that will best achieve a light effect and create volume. An essential step of the painting process at the Academy of Realist Art Boston, this stage is subsequently used as an indispensable reference when completing a naturalistic painting.
At the end of this 9 week class, the student will take away a greater understanding of how to simplify planes, properly compose values and create color harmony, including the mapping out of temperature patterns. Day one will be dedicated to a basic lecture on terminology and concepts, an introduction to materials and a painting demo; thereafter, the class will work on four two week poses from the nude.
All levels welcome.
